| Abstract: | The Dar Fur Sultanate endured for nearly 300 years (+ 1650-1916), but anything more than a 'chronicle history' is impossible much before 1750; this book, therefore, attempts to focus on the period 1750-1916. Its emphasis on the central institutions of the stat, on the rulers tather than the ruled reflects the present stat of knowledge.
