Abstract: | The study was conducted in 1973 in support of the Grain Stabilization Program of the United States Agency for International Development. The study itself was designed to yield estimates of the numbers of people that could be supported by the land resources of two villages in Niger and one in Upper Volta. More specifically, the work was a first attempt to use imagery from the Earth Resources Technology Satellite 1 (ERTS 1 now Landsat 1) in making such estimates for countries of the Sahelian zone. |
