Abstract:This book describes the effect of South Africa's military occupation of Namibia on the daily life of the Namibians. It gives an account of the transformation of northern Namibia into a military zone, and details of repressive regulations under which cicilians have to live. It provides detailed evidence of the violence inflicted on the civilian population by the South African army and police, and their local recruits. It also draws attention to the serious disruption of social services, agricultural production and commerce caused by the war and highlights the consequences of this large scale damage to human and material resources for an independent Namibia.
