| Abstract: | On the basis of a review of available evidence on Africa's contemporary food problem, current trends are discussed in a world context. Objectively, grounds for optimism in the early resolution of Africa's food crisis are hard to find. Both the sustained trends and the areal extensiveness of pervasive shortfalls in subsistance are unfavourable. |
