Abstract:Due to violent attacks of the Boko Haram Islamic sect in the northern region of Cameroon, the Parliament has adopted the law of 23 December 2014, sanctioning acts of terrorism. The particular procedures and, above all, the special gravity of sanctions created by this law, produce very bad effects on the Cameroonian State considered as a 'State of law' since the 1990s, and particularly since the constitutional reform of 18 January 1996 that recognizes many human rights and liberties. This 'State of law' is, unfortunately, about to become a 'State of police' because of its legal and legitimate objective to preserve public order deeply endangered by terrorist acts, thus raising a certain doubt about the intention of the new legislation.
