Abstract:The main objective of this paper is to review the findings of previous empirical studies on the relationship between urbanization and interregional labor migration in some developing countries of Africa, Asia and Latin America. Utilizing a more disaggregated migration data from the Ghana Post-Enumeration Survey and the Advance Report to Volumes III and IV of the main census of 1960 (Ghana 1963) and taking the Beals, Levy, and Moses study, the author attempts in thispaper to reexamine the relationship between urbanization and interregional labor migration. Results from the present study tend to cast some doubts on the Beals et al. empirical findings on this relationship in Ghana. Abstract, notes, ref., tab.
